Cities4Children Kenya Alliance (C4CY–Kenya) is a national multi-stakeholder platform advancing child-responsive urban development in Kenya. The Alliance works to ensure that cities, towns, and urban communities are planned, governed, and financed in ways that uphold children’s rights, safety, wellbeing, and future opportunities.
C4CY–Kenya is an affiliate of the Cities4Children Global Alliance, a global platform housed by Save the Children in Geneva Switzerland. The Kenya Alliance is one of three country chapters globally, alongside Bangladesh, hosted by Save the Children Bangladesh, and Colombia, hosted by Hills Consulting.
In Kenya, C4CY–Kenya is a programme of Green Flags Association (GFA) and is housed at the GFA Secretariat in Nairobi, Kenya. This institutional anchoring provides strong governance, fiduciary oversight, and implementation capacity, while ensuring alignment with global Cities4Children learning, standards, and advocacy.

Inclusive, safe, and resilient child-friendly urban areas in Kenyan
Green Flags Association (GFA), the host institution of Cities4Children Kenya Alliance (C4CY–Kenya), is governed by a Board of Directors that provides policy direction, fiduciary oversight, and strategic accountability. Day-to-day management of GFA is led by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), who oversees implementation of the organization’s strategic plans and programmes.
As a programme of GFA, C4CY–Kenya reports to a GFA Board Committee on Programmes, which provides strategic guidance and oversight to ensure alignment with GFA’s mission and agreed objectives.
Operationally, C4CY–Kenya is implemented through a dedicated Secretariat, guided by a Steering Committee chaired by an elected Chair. The Secretariat is led by a Project Lead / Country Director, supported by technical leads across thematic areas and specialist consultants as required. Alliance members play a vital complementary role by contributing knowledge, skills, networks, and tools, strengthening the Alliance’s collective capacity, policy influence, and impact on child-responsive urban development across Kenya.
